Flattering and comfortable lingerie for curvy and plus size women

How to Choose Curvy Lingerie that's Comfortable, Flattering & Fits Well

Finding lingerie when you’re curvier can feel really frustrating. Not because good lingerie doesn’t exist — but because a lot of it seems designed for one very specific body shape, then simply scaled up without much thought about how real bodies actually fit.

Things such as narrow and too-tight straps. Cups that flatten instead of support. Bodysuits pulling in the wrong places. Lace digging into hips. Underwire sitting somewhere near your armpit.

This is one of the reasons you will find our curvy collection has completely different designs and styles than the standard collections.

Most of our curvy customers are looking for lingerie that:

  • fits properly,
  • feels comfortable,
  • flatters their shape,
  • and still feels sexy without feeling impossible to wear.

Once you understand what styles tend to work best for different body shapes and comfort preferences, lingerie shopping becomes a whole lot easier.

The Best Curvy Lingerie Usually Balances Structure and Stretch

This is where many styles get it wrong. Some pieces are so heavily structured they feel restrictive. Others have no support at all and end up rolling, shifting, or sitting awkwardly on the body.

The styles our customers tend to come back for most often usually combine:

  • flexible stretch,
  • softer fabrics,
  • adjustable straps,
  • supportive shaping,
  • and enough structure to feel secure without feeling rigid.

Styles such as softer bodysuits, stretch lace sets, chemises and basque sets are often our most popular in curvy sizes. Our Contour Collection is one you might light to explore further.

Not Every Curvy Body Needs the Same Fit

This may sound obvious, but most lingerie advice online still treats “curvy” as one single body type. In reality during fittings with my customers, we have discovered that fit can change dramatically depending on:

  • bust size;
  • torso length;
  • hip shape;
  • waist definition;
  • height; and
  •  personal comfort preferences.

For example:

  • some people prefer more support and coverage,
  • others want softer, less structured styles,
  • some love strappy harness details,
  • while others feel better in smoother, simpler silhouettes.

That’s why there’s no single “best” lingerie style for curvy bodies. The goal is usually finding the balance between comfort, support and how you want to feel while wearing it.

Bodysuits Can Work Beautifully — If the Fit Is Right

A lot of curvier customers assume bodysuits won’t work for them. However, they’re often one of the best styles when designed properly.

A good fitting bodysuits can:

  • smooth, but comfortably;
  • create shape without heavy compression;
  • layer beautifully under clothing; and
  • feel more secure than separate pieces.

The key is choosing styles with stretch, adjustable elements, softer fabric and the right torso length.

If you’ve struggled with bodysuits before, our guides:

…may help explain why some styles feel amazing and others feel terrible.

Comfort is Everything..

A surprising number of people don't wear or stop wearing lingerie because they assume discomfort is normal. Trust me - it isn't!

Well fitting curvy lingerie still allows you to move and sit comfortably, breath without digging and the best should make forget you are even wearing it. Softer lace, stretch mesh, contour styles, and flexible multi-piece sets tend to become repeat favourites.

If comfort is important to you our guides may help:

Confidence Comes from Comfort and Feeling Like Yourself

The lingerie people wear most often usually isn’t the most extreme or dramatic piece they own. It’s the sets that fit well, are comfortable, flatter your shape and make you feel - like yourself. There is no correct version of 'sexy'. In general it's less about what you're wearing than how you feel while you're wearing.

Curvy Lingerie Should Feel Designed for Bodies — Not Against Them

The right lingerie shouldn’t feel like something you’re fighting all night. It should work with your shape, not punish it.
