The 3 Most Popular Lingerie Styles for Curvy Bodies
There’s no single “perfect” lingerie style for curvy bodies. Some people want more support and structure. Others want softness, comfort, or styles that feel a little less intimidating to wear. And honestly, confidence usually comes more from how lingerie feels on your body than from following trends.
Over time though, certain lingerie styles consistently become favourites with curvier customers because they tend to balance:
- comfort;
- fit;
- confidence; and
- wearability.
These are the styles I find our curvylicious customers come back for again and again.
1. Bodysuits and Basques
Bodysuits and basques are easily the most popular lingerie styles our customers turn to - especially when they’re designed with stretch, softness, and adjustability in mind. While they’re often grouped together, basques, bodysuits, and bustiers all fit and shape the body a little differently. If you’re unsure which style suits you best, our guide on What Is Basque Lingerie (and How Is It Different?) explains the differences more clearly.
A good bodysuit:
- creates shape naturally;
- smooths comfortably without heavy compression;
- layers beautifully under clothing; and
- feels secure without feeling restrictive.
Basques are popular for similar reasons, with the main difference being it comes in two pieces which allows for a more versatile fit in torso plus easier to manage when out and about.
When choosing between a bodysuit or basque, it often comes down to the type of fit and feeling you personally prefer. Some people love the softer, stretchier feel of a bodysuit that moves naturally with the body, while others prefer the extra structure, shaping, and adjustability a basque can offer.
Basques also tend to work well for customers wanting more styling versatility, including the option to add stockings or create a more layered lingerie look. Bodysuits, on the other hand, are often chosen for comfort, simplicity, and ease under clothing. For guidance on choosing a bodysuit read our guide on How to Choose the Perfect Bodysuit for You.
Torso length can also make a surprisingly big difference to comfort. Many of our bodysuits are adjustable in length using a hook and eye closure at the crotch, however you may prefer the comfort of a basque that allows for different torso lengths without the need for adjustments in hard to get areas:).
2. Chemises and Babydolls
Not everybody - or every occasion - calls for highly structured or form-fitting lingerie.
Chemises and babydolls remain popular styles for all shapes, including curvy bodies, because they tend to feel softer, lighter, and more relaxed while still feeling feminine and flattering. They’re also some of our most gifted lingerie styles. Many customers buying lingerie for a partner gravitate toward chemises and babydolls because they’re often easier to size, easier to wear, and tend to feel flattering and comfortable on a wider range of body shapes.
The main advantages I hear about these styles are that they:
- skim over the body rather than sitting tightly against it;
- allow more movement;
- feel softer, lighter, and more floaty to wear;
- give a subtle glimpse of the body without feeling overly exposed; and
- work beautifully for relaxed date nights at home, weekend getaways or anytime you want to feel comfortable but still put together.
They also to feel cooler and less restrictive in warmer weather and are easy to slip in and out of. Chemises in particular are chosen by customers that want something wearable, confidence boosting and easy to relax in - rather than something they have to constantly adjust for comfort. 3. Contour Styles and Bodystockings
The third most popular style with our curvy customers are those from our Contour Collection and Bodystocking Collection. I often describe our contouring styles as 'shapewear but sexy'. They provide a little more structure, while still feeling soft, comfortable, and easy to wear. Many feature multi-adjustments making them a great middle ground between the more fitted bodysuits and softer chemises.
Contour styles are popular because they:
- hug the body naturally,
- create shape without heavy structure,
- and often layer smoothly under clothing.

Bodystockings work differently again. The stretch fabric allows them to adapt to different body shapes far more easily than rigid lingerie styles.
That flexibility is one reason many people find them extremely comfortable and easy to wear and more confidence - boosting than expected. Some customers also enjoy that bodystockings create a more complete look without needing to coordinate multiple separate pieces. Not tried a Bodystocking before?
